Disneyland could extend its monorail system under expansion proposal “The outbreak of World War II stalled several of his projects, including the concept of a family entertainment park,” the report said.“We had about 30 acres [to build the new studio] and began to think about the land for an amusement park,” remembered Disney. PARIS (AP) — Star striker Kylian Mbappé was kept quiet and Paris Saint-Germain could not find a way to score in a 0-0 draw at struggling Clermont in the French league on Saturday.Mbappé shook off a minor injury to his left ankle sustained in last Sunday’s 4-0 home win against Marseille and started. He received a yellow card for diving in an attempt to win a penalty in the 80th minute, but could not add to his league-leading seven goals.PSG moved up to second place but has won only three of its seven league games under new coach Luis Enrique, drawing three and losing one. The draw moved Clermont off the bottom and into 17th place with two points.A home win for Monaco later Saturday at home to Marseille would put it on top. Marseille coach Gennaro Gattuso was taking charge of his first game.Goalkeeper Mory Diaw thwarted PSG with a couple of saves in the first half from right winger Ousmane Dembélé.Clermont defender Cheick Konaté forced a save from PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnar...

GUIDONIA MONTECELIO, Italy (AP) — Hats off to Patrick Cantlay. After his late burst of birdies won the Americans the final fourballs match on Day 2, Cantlay’s teammates responded by removing their caps and waving them in the air.The gesture appeared to be in response to an unsubstantiated report from Sky Sports — the broadcast partner for the European tour at Marco Simone — that singled out Cantlay as causing a rift among the Americans because he thinks they should be paid at the Ryder Cup.The report also claimed Cantlay was not wearing a hat out of protest. Cantlay also did not wear a cap at the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits in 2021.European fans in the galleries were also waving the hats as Cantlay walked the fairways on the final holes of his round with Wyndham Clark.___Patrick Cantlay holed birdie putts to win the final three holes and earn the Americans a 1-up win in the final fourballs match on Day 2 at the Ryder Cup, giving them a glimmer of hope of retaining the golden troph...

On the brink of a federal shutdown, the House passes a 45-day funding plan and sends it to Senate

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 07:17:51 GMT

WASHINGTON (AP) — On the brink of a federal government shutdown, the House on Saturday swiftly approved 45-day funding bill to keep federal agencies open as Speaker Kevin McCarthy dropped demands for steep spending cuts and relied on Democratic votes for passage to send the package to the Senate. The new approach would leave behind aid to Ukraine, a White House priority opposed by a growing number of GOP lawmakers, but the plan would increase federal disaster assistance by $16 billion, meeting President Joe Biden’s full request. With hours to go for the midnight deadline to fund the government, the Senate was also in for a rare weekend session and prepared to act next.“We’re going to do our job,” McCarthy said ahead of voting. “We’re going to be adults in the room. And we’re going to keep government open.”With no deal in place before Sunday, federal workers will face furloughs, more than 2 million active-duty and reserve military troops will work without pay and programs and services ...

Disney, DeSantis legal fights ratchet up as company demands documents from Florida governor

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The legal fights between Disney and Gov. Ron DeSantis ratcheted up this week. The Florida governor asked that the company’s First Amendment lawsuit against him be tossed from federal court, and Disney demanded emails, texts and other communications from the governor’s office in a separate state court lawsuit originally brought by DeSantis appointees of Walt Disney World’s governing district. The legal filings marked an escalation in the battle between the entertainment giant and DeSantis, a candidate for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. The confrontation started last year when Disney publicly opposed a state law banning classroom lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity in early grades, and DeSantis retaliated by taking over the governing district that provides municipal services for the 25,000-acre (10,117-hectare) Disney World theme park resort in Florida.Disney has sued DeSantis in federal court, claiming the governor violated it...
